Maria Heidkamp was recently a panelist for a session on Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Age Discrimination in the Workplace at the 47th annual conference of the State Society on Aging (SSA) of New York. The panelists discussed that while many older adults are living longer and want to keep working longer, either by choice or financial necessity, they often face significant discrimination in hiring and on the job. SSA President Christian González-Rivera from the Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging at Hunter College, CUNY, moderated the panel, which, in addition to Heidkamp, included Peter Gosselin, Senior Fellow, Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging at Hunter College, CUNY; Beth Finkel, State Director, AARP New York; and Ruth Finkelstein, Executive Director of the Brookdale Center on Healthy Aging at Hunter College.

Heidkamp is Director of Program Development and Technical Assistance at the Heldrich Center, and Director of the center's New Start Career Network.
