Provides a framework for understanding labor market alignment efforts across postsecondary education, providing a common language and key insights for practitioners, policymakers, and researchers to develop better policies and practices. Assesses what is known based on current research and practice on LMA to provide guidance on moving from policy to action, as well as charting out priorities to future research to guide ongoing LMA efforts.

Uses a survey experiment to assess two models of student choice: one in which students use median earnings, and one in which students use median earnings and earnings variation. Provides background on the policy context, reviews related literature on earnings and major choice, discusses the researchers' empirical expectations, describes the experimental design of the study, presents the results, and discusses the findings.
