Technical Assistance and Evaluation of New Jersey’s Disability Employment Initiative (DEI)

The Heldrich Center is under contract with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development to provide technical assistance and staff development at four DEI sites located in Passaic, Bergen, Burlington, and Cumberland/Salem counties and to evaluate the process and effectiveness of the state’s technical assistance and staff intervention efforts. The NJ DEI grant has engaged these sites in a series of activities designed to improve the professional development and capacity of One-Stop Career Center staff to serve youth with disabilities, including but not limited to the creation of a Disability Resource Coordination position at each site. The Heldrich Center is assisting the state with the development of policies, procedures, and staffing to ensure a more effective referral of job seekers with disabilities to One-Stop services, developing referral linkages between college placement offices and One-Stop jobseekers with disabilities, managing a Peer Learning and Leadership Network community of practices, integration of social media into DEI staff work processes, and evaluation of the DEI activities. (Funded by a grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development and the US Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy and Employment and Training Administration)
