R Programmer with Shiny Experience - Freelance Opportunity

The Heldrich Center is seeking a freelance consultant to work with the Center’s data analysts to provide data stories and data visualizations with the R package. The consultant will assist the team in developing high-quality data graphics and visualizations. Must have at least 4 years of experience with R programming, and have Shiny app development skills and significant data visualization skills. Additional experience with d3 and Javascript preferred.

Expected contract engagement duration is 260 hours over six months or approximately 10 hours per week over 26 weeks starting in February 2017. Expected compensation $50-75 per hour depending on experience and skill level. Location flexible but must be available for in-person consultation at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey when necessary. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Communications, Data Visualization and Information Designer - Freelance Opportunity

The Heldrich Center is seeking a freelance consultant to work with the Center’s data analysts to create and design marketing materials for a statewide data project, and to help develop data visualization products, such as infographics, that use complex research findings to tell a data story visually. 

The consultant would provide guidance to the data analyst team and help develop high-quality informational and presentation products (charts, graphs, infographics, etc.) for printed and electronic media. The consultant will also assist the team in developing written and visual content for a large data-rich website. Additionally, the consultant will assist the team in developing monthly content for the website, help in setting up and hosting webinars about the data project and products, and create quarterly public accomplishment reports.

Must have at least 4 years of experience in the fields of communications, marketing, and/or data visualization, and prior marketing and communications experience in developing and writing marketing content, creating high-quality visualizations, data storytelling, and creating high-quality presentations for meetings and conferences. Must have experience using current data visualization software tools or apps.
