Van Horn Announces Heldrich Center Commitment to Action at Clinton Global Initiative Meeting

Sunday, June 19, 2016

Carl Van Horn, director of the Heldrich Center and distinguished professor at Rutgers University, recently participated in the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) America meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. During the meeting’s closing plenary session on investing in quality jobs, Van Horn announced the Heldrich Center’s Commitment to Action to help address the problem of long-term unemployment, both in New Jersey and nationwide.

The Heldrich Center’s Commitment to Action will greatly expand the New Start Career Network, an initiative launched in late 2015 to help long-term unemployed New Jerseyans, particularly those aged 45 and over, obtain jobs. The New Start Career Network will triple its current efforts, with a goal of reaching 9,000 job seekers statewide by the end of 2019. Additionally, the Heldrich Center will establish a national community of practice that will conduct webinars, share resources and papers, and hold an annual forum on solutions for long-term unemployment.
