In 2001, the Heldrich Center worked with the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey and the state's pharmaceutical companies to perform a workforce supply and demand analysis designed to understand the emerging and long-term workforce needs of New Jersey's pharmaceutical and medical technology industry. The industry, at that time, employed more than 66,000 individuals in the state, thus establishing itself as one of the pillars of New Jersey's economy.
