The Heldrich Center is working with leading companies within New Jersey's energy sector to respond to the critical skill and knowledge gaps facing the industry. The project involves: identifying the priority workforce needs of New Jersey's energy sector based on input from the project's Industry Advisory Group and a review of currently available research, identifying existing education and workforce programs and strategies already preparing individuals for occupations within the gas and electric utilities sector; developing recommendations for specific strategies for meeting the workforce needs of the industry; and facilitating the development of business-education partnerships to implement energy sector-related training programs. This 12-month project will result in a strategic plan and the implementation of new education and training programs specifically for high-demand jobs within the state's energy industry.
Funded by a consortium of New Jersey energy and utility companies.
